A note from the founder
"I don’t have a dog. Not yet."
That may be unusual to read here. It is also the most honest place to start.
What I have is time inside this industry.
Thirty years of it.
Long enough to see how products are made,
what owners are told,
and what actually makes a difference.
I looked for a pattern.
There wasn’t one.
What became clear instead was this:
most pet food is built around a process —
designed to use what the food industry leaves behind.
Once you see that, you don’t change it from within.
You step outside it.
So we did.
TENDS starts from a different place.
Small-dog biology.
Faster metabolism. Narrower margins.
More sensitivity — to food, to change, to imbalance.
Not a smaller version of a larger system.
A different one entirely.
From there, every decision follows.
We chose to build it close to ingredient supply —
and to create an oven-baked process from the ground up.
Plant-based formulations, built for absorption.
Oven-baked — not rendered, not reconstituted.
A system of food, hydration, rewards, and care that works together, not separately.
Nothing here was rushed or compromised.
Built around how small dogs actually live, eat, and respond.
The way you would if you were feeding it every day.
One day, I will be.
